School Time

by James Email

As a part of our towns Independence Day celebration they opened up the old one room schoolhouse for all to attend an authentic 1800’s class. This was a great learning experience for my children. Ben, my oldest at 5, was able to connect that the University, where he attended preschool, and the old schoolhouse started at the same time. This amazed me and the “teacher” too. It is amazing how things have changed and at the same time they have stayed the same. It is always interesting to travel back in time to the days of old where times were simpler and there were less distractions.

Awesome photos! This sounds like such a great celebration. My son loves the living history type things too. He really learns (and retains) a lot from these events.
